Using cutting-edge technology, our SPECTRALIS OCT machine locks onto your unique retinal signature to allow accurate, on-going monitoring of your eye health at every visit. SPECTRALIS is used on the International Space Station to monitor the health of astronaut’s eyes and we have invested in the same trusted technology, which is considered to be the gold standard. So much so that many of the top ophthalmologists that we work closely with refer patients back to us for continuity of care.

OCT is a medical imaging technique that uses light waves to generate images of the back of your eye. It allows us to see a detailed
three-dimensional view of your retina so that we can look at your eye in very fine detail.
This allows us to detect a wide range of eye conditions and is ideal for the management and maintenance of pre-existing eye conditions, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
The eyes are the window to the soul, so this also allows us detect and monitor systemic health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

Glaucoma is a condition which results in thinning of the retinal nerve fibres in the back eye. With Heidelberg Spectralis 4D Optical Coherence Tomographer. Our scans can detect any nerve damage up to 8 years earlier than conventional methods, which means treatment can be started sooner.
If you look at the image to the left, you can see that the scans of this patient, with green sectors, indicates the reading are with normal limits. Here, the right eye is normal. However the left eye shows mixed areas of red, yellow and green. The red sectors indicate significant thinning, indicating suspect glaucoma and there requiring further investigation
